Two years after the publication of my first book, I still can't believe I'm writing for Harlequin! I can remember vividly slipping Harlequin romance novels into my textbooks when I was about 13 years old so I could read them inconspicuously during class. I devoured four or five of them every week. To this day reading continues to be one of my favorite pastimes. Maybe it's all those years of sneaking novels into the classroom, but I still get a guilty pleasure when I crack open a new book.

Female-friendly Erotica / Erotica for Women What does this mean? By this I am referring to my efforts to write erotica in a way that will appeal to, intrigue, entertain and, hopefully, arouse women. Female-friendly erotica promotes an expression of sensuality that is fun and exciting without a trace of censure. It is my own personal opinion, having read hundreds of books of erotica, that much of what's written today caters to male tastes. I think many writers are still clinging to the old, outdated mode of thinking which embraces the false concept that real love, great sex and true romance depends on a woman looking and performing in a certain way. I wholeheartedly reject this way of thinking, and believe that true erotica expresses sexual behaviors independent of those superficial expectations placed on women. Erotica should celebrate women's sexuality and be accessible to every women. I believe the need is great for "female friendly" erotica for women because they are, in general, much less easily sexually stimulated than men. In fact, increasing numbers of women (some studies say up to 70% of them) complain of "sexual dysfunction," (most often manifesting itself as lack of desire). The challenge, then, is to sexually stimulate women. If with all my research and efforts my writing does not accomplish this, I hope at the very least it will create a new awareness that others can improve upon. Note: This should not be construed as an attempt to suggest how women should think about sex. Every woman is unique in her own sexuality. The last thing I want to do is put yet another constraint on women.
