Around five thousand years ago something happened that would change the world forever. In a relatively short period of time, men who for thousands of years lived as hunters and gatherers began settling in one place, taming the land and even governing themselves. They invented the wheel, armor and algebra. They somehow came by knowledge of our solar system that modern technology wasn't even able to confirm until the 1970s. Even more importantly, they began to write.

From those first records of the written word we find accounts of 'angels' descending from 'heaven' to mate with the women of Mesopotamia. The result was a breed of giants they called Nephilim. Many scientists theorize that these otherworldly visitors may have been aliens, while theologians believe they were spirit creatures sent by God. What matters most to me is that they were here. And as for their offspring, the Nephilim, the testimonies of their existence are too widespread to discount, dating back to the first piece of literature ever found (The Epic of Gilgamesh) and continuing to the time of Christ.

I believe this time period in world history is significant. What exactly were these hybrid creatures? Were they human or something else? Did they possess souls, like us? And, if so, what happened to their souls when they died? Arabian legend describes evil spirits not belonging to this earth. Is it possible that these Arabian djinn - these 'hidden' ones so at odds with the rest of creation - could be connected to those lost Nephilim souls?

In my upcoming novel, I present my theory about what happened all those years ago and how these lost Nephilim souls—the djinn—remain with us today. I’ve spent nearly seven years gathering evidence from both the science and religious communities and strangely enough, the pieces fit together as well as pieces of a puzzle, and it all makes perfect sense - for me, at least. I enjoyed writing the paranormal one so much that I decided to move into the science fiction genre. In Enchanted Dreams I had written about ghosts, aliens, vampires and even monsters, but for my latest project I wanted to bring in my love of ancient history and theology too. This led me all the way back to Mesopotamia and the legendary Nephilim. I just love writing about this and if all goes well I'll be doing it for a while!
